This drabble was written for the 100 Words/Explosions
comment_fic prompt: Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay, I feel like my head's going to explode!
"This is absolutely ridiculous. I feel like my head's going to explode!" Rodney stood up from where he was seated on his bed and started pacing around his quarters.
John remained silent, but his hands fidgeted in his lap. "Look, I know you're upset -"
"Upset? No, Sheppard, I'm not upset. I'm disappointed."
"What's that supposed to mean?" John asked, his brow furrowed.
Rodney stopped dead in his tracks and turned to look at John, pinning him with a look of pure vulnerability.
"It means that the United States Air Force is three million light-years away, and what they have to say about who you love shouldn't matter."
"Love?" John raised an eyebrow, but it was obvious he was trying not to smile.
"Okay," Rodney shrugged, "Mildly tolerate. Whatever."
John stood up and walked toward Rodney, until he was dangerously close.
"It's not that simple, McKay."
Rodney’s mouth twitched upward in a sincere, albeit lopsided smile.
"But it is."
He closed the distance between them, felt John’s body tense up as their lips met. John didn’t move a muscle, so Rodney did the polite thing and reluctantly broke off the awkward kiss.
But then John’s hands were on his shoulders, pulling Rodney back in and kissing him hard, teeth and tongues colliding. They parted after a few moments, both of them gasping for air.
“How could I ever say no to this?” John whispered, his voice barely audible.
Rodney’s heart felt like it was about to explode now, instead of his head.
“Have I changed your mind, then?”
John grinned. “Maybe. Might need a little more convincing though.”
He tugged Rodney back over toward the bed, Rodney practically falling into his lap and straddling John in the process.
“Happy to help,” Rodney said, leaning in for another kiss, heart definitely exploding.
